“…plans to prosper you and not harm you…” (Jerermiah 29:11)
God does not enjoying doing you harm.
Whether you are a leader, a parent, or just a “regular joe,” you will find yourself in situations where you must make decisions that may hurt others. You may have to decide to end a relationship, remove a person from their position, or tell a hard-to-hear truth to someone you care about. Even though you know it will hurt them, you don’t do it with harm in mind. You do it because you care about them. You do it because you are concerned about their well-being. Even if it hurts you more, you understand that it is a “necessary hurt.”
This is what God means when He says He has plans to prosper and not harm you. Everything that God does for and to His children is for your good. If the Father delights in you, He will chasten and discipline you. God is watching the way you live your life and the way that you serve him. If you find yourself in situations where you are being chastened, be glad. It is a sign that you belong Him! (See Hebrews 12:7-11) Hard times and discouraging situations are meant to mature us.
Whatever the situation may be, God means it for your good. Sometimes, God allows you to be hurt because He loves you.
