“What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?” (Psalm 34:12, KJV)
In our world, people are always striving to live a long life. But why?
Some people want to live a long life so that they can acquire more wealth. Others, so that they may accomplish some great success. Yet, for some, they simply want to live a long life so that they may see their children, and their children’s children, grow up. However, if we seek to live a long life so that we may focus on our own selfish goals and ambitions, then we have erred.
When we search the Scripture, we find that we were created to worship and glorify the Creator. Should we be fortune to secure the blessing of a long life, our focus should be to live in such a way that brings glory and honor to the Father. As we’ll see over the next couple of days, God’s prescription for a long life is more than exercise and healthy habits. On the contrary, God prescription for a long life is to practice “healthy” spiritual habits so that we would be able to say with the Psalmist, “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.” (Psalm 118:17)
