Where Did We Go Wrong?

“Over time, the church became sophisticated – we grew in education and knowledge – and somewhere in the midst of that growth of knowledge, we began to lose out on… wisdom and understanding. And we stopped doing certain things the way we used to because we said it did not ‘make much sense.’ [It] didn’t make sense to come down to the altar and cry before the Lord, tears running, and ‘all that carrying on.’ [It didn’t make much sense for] folk [to be] down on their knees, and [for] some [to be] laying down on the floor. [We began to say, ‘It] just looks like you’re just embarrassing yourself.’ We said that didn’t make sense and [so] we backed off of it. And… since [stopped doing things] that way, we’ve experienced so much [loss].”
