Words of Wisdom Wednesday
There is nothing better than receiving a blessing from God. According to Proverbs 10:22, “The blessing of the Lord maketh one rich and he adds no sorrow to it.” What a great promise: when God blesses you, He adds no sorrow! Let’s look at the word sorrow in more detail.
According to our modern definition of the word sorrow, it means “deep distress, sorrow, or regret.” So, when God blessed us, we don’t have to feel bad about it. Other people may say or do things to make us feel as if we don’t deserve our blessing, but God saw fit to bless us. And if He saw fit for us to have it, then we have every right to be glad! Never allow others to make you feel sad when God has blessed you.
When God wants to bless us, nothing and no one can stand in the way of us receiving our blessing – unless we allow them to do so. We serve a great and awesome God who is able to bless us exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can think or even imagine. Think of the greatest blessing that God can give you. God is able to do greater than that! Isn’t that amazing?
God has said in His Word in Exodus 33:19, “I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.” So what is He saying? He is saying this: if He wants to bless you He will. It doesn’t matter if you deserve it. God’s ability to bless is only limited by His willingness to bless. Therefore, your ability to be blessed is limited only by your willingness to receive.
