Today is Word of Wisdom Wednesday. The scripture of the day is found in Proverbs 13:12.
“Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.”
When God makes a promise to us, we can be sure that He’s going to keep it. Yet, the time between the promise and the fulfillment of it may be longer than we expect. A crucial lesson that we should learn zas young believers in Christ is this: God’s timing is not our timing.
Our Heavenly Father exists in eternity — He not limited to time constraints. In one glance, God can see our lives from beginning to end. He knows what will occur in our lives and when it will happen. He knows how each circumstance will turn out. And if we happen to stumble along the way, He is able to intervene and turn the situation around so that it has a positive outcome. For these reasons, it is a good thing to trust and wait upon the Lord.
Even though we know we can trust God, we may find ourselves becoming weary as we wait on Him to do as He has promised. If we find ourselves becoming weary, then we simply need to turn our hearts and minds to the One who cares for us. He promises to give us strength to continue to wait on Him. He has said in His word that those who wait on Himshall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
There is an appointed time and season for His promises to be fulfilled in our lives. If we teach our hearts to wait patiently on Him, surely the blessing will be as a “tree of life” when it comes to pass in our lives.
