P&W: Seeing Purpose in Your Pain

The following lyrics are from Marvin Sapp’s “Place of Worship”, which is on his 2009 album, Thirsty.

Go find your place of worship
Look into your pain and find your praise
Every low place in your life
Prepared you for your hard place
Every tear you cried is water for
The garden of your victory

And even though you’re in the valley,
Victory comes through your adversity
Go find your place of worship

The beautiful lyrics of this song provide a word of encouragement to those who are going through or have gone through some hardship.

It is easy to get discouraged when you are facing a difficult trial. But Marvin Sapp let’s us know that the answer is to find a place of worship. This does not mean a “physical” place but a spiritual place, a mind set that produces worship.

When we worship God, we reflect on His many wonderful and glorious qualities: His goodness, His kindness, His mercy, His holiness, His power, His magnificence, etc. There are so many wonderful attributes about God. If we would redirect our attention away from our problem to the awesome Creator and ruler of the universe, we would find the strength to endure.

We have to understand that our trials always serve a purpose. We are going through for one of two reasons: so that God can change us or so we can be able to help someone else that will come after us. Either way, God wants to get the glory out of our lives. Therefore, since we suffer for His glory, we should turn our minds and hearts towards Him in worship. Whether we are up or down, God never changes.
