Why the Potter Remakes the Vessel

Quote from our Pastor teaching on Jeremiah 18 (continued from previous post):

“Jeremiah saw [the marred vessel] from where he was standing at the door and he saw [the potter] crush the clay back down. No doubt, the vessel was probably shaping up pretty good in the eyes of Jeremiah. But in the eyes of the master craftsman, he knew that it was not going to work out. Now, if he had continued and left the imperfection in the vessel, no doubt, the vessel would not have been able to hold up when he put the vessel in the fire.

“[Once the vessel was placed in the fire, which was meant] to intensify it and give it strength, no doubt, there would have been a weak spot and it would not have been able to withstand the heat of the fire. And if we are going to go through some things, we have to be made the right way. [We] have to be shaped in the right way. [We] have to be prepared in the right way if we are going to go through some things…”
