“The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished”
(2 Peter 2:9)
We are going to go through many trials and tribulations in this life. You can count on it. Matthew Henry said, “…if we will get to heaven, it must through many tribulations. It is therefore our duty to reckon upon and prepare for them.” When we are in the midst of a fiery trial, it can be difficult to see our way out. At such a time, we need our Heavenly Father to make a way of escape for us. The latter half of 1Corinthians 10:13 says, “…But God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what you are able; but will, with the temptation, also make a way of escape that ye may be able to bear it.”
God knows how to deliver His people out of temptations. He is more than able to sustain in the midst of whatever we go through. He knows our frame and considers that we are weak. It is by the work of God that we are able to become conquerors and overcomers. When we lean on Him in our times of weakness, He will make us strong.
Yes, we are going to suffer many afflictions and trials on our journey to heaven. But God will deliver us from them all. As we continue on this journey, let us always bear in mind the Spirit-inspired words of Paul in Romans 8:18, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
